Road Construction in Downtown Missoula
We received word today that East Front Street between Pattee Street and Adams Street will be undergoing some utility pipe installation and road reconstruction work. The project commences June 16 and will last approximately four weeks until July 10 or so. This project will require closure of both the travel lanes, so traffic will be shifted to the parking lane on the northern curb line. No parking will be allowed on that curb line throughout the duration of the project.
Questions and concerns regarding the East Front Street utility work can be directed to L.S. Jensen at 370-4554 or 532-4809.
Another construction project will take place this summer when the Montana Department of Transportation resurfaces Higgins Avenue from Broadway south to the bridge. While we have very little detail on this project, we have been told that the majority of the milling and filling will take place in the evenings, but that the chip and seal process will happen during the day. The project on Higgins is a 40-day contract, and the chip and seal must be completed by August 30. We do not know yet when the project will commence, however, we will pass along the information as soon as we have it.
MDOT will also be resurfacing Orange Street from Broadway south to the bridge at some point in the not-too-distant future. As we learn more about that project, we will forward more information to our membership. These two street resurfacing projects come to fruition due to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (economic stimulus funding).
We all realize and understand how challenging construction can be and will do what we can to ensure Downtown remains open for business during construction. Downtown Missoula is fortunate to have federal dollars being spent to improve our Downtown. We hope you will agree.
